The Ground Zero walk with One World Observatory

A local guide walks you from St. Paul's Chapel to the FDNY Wall and the pools, then you ride up One World Trade Center on your own. Pick it if you want the story and the view but not three more hours underground in the Museum.

9/11 Memorial Tour with One World Observatory Option

About this experience

This is the ExperienceFirst Memorial walk with the view in place of the Museum. St. Paul's Chapel comes first; the listing says you can look at the photographs and memorabilia inside. Then the FDNY Memorial Wall and the reflecting pools, where the guided part ends. The listing also includes a self-guided look at the lobby of One World Trade Center with the film Voices.

If you chose the upgrade, you walk over to One World Observatory and ride the Sky Pod elevator, watching a short film on how the city has changed. The Observatory fills floors 100 to 102, and the Observatory's own visit page suggests 45 minutes to an hour up there. Without the upgrade the price covers the walk only.

The 9/11 Museum is not included; the listing says it can be added on site, depending on availability. Read the checkout twice: a December 2024 guest expected Museum tickets and received only the Observatory ticket they had selected. If you want all three, the All Access day bundles them.

  • Guide with a personal connection to 9/11
  • St. Paul's Chapel, with time to look inside
  • The FDNY Memorial Wall and both reflecting pools
  • One World Observatory on floors 100 to 102 as an upgrade
  • Groups of 20 at most

What guests say

★★★★★

Sean was a great tour leader. He gave a very moving story of the events of 9/11 that added a personal touch of the events of that day. I would highly recommend this tour. Also, add the visit to the One World observatory. The views were magnificent!

Raymond did a great job, was very personable, knowledgeable, and kept a good pace. The coverage was great and the teen kids stayed interested and engaged. The group was of a great size.

We had a powerful experience with Sean narrating the actual biographies of people who lost their lives on 911. He made the day come alive again: with the people in the tower, the rescue workers, regular citizens, etc. [...]

Tips before you book

  • Check the weather before you choose the Observatory upgrade; a cloudy day hides most of the view.
  • The listing text mentions St. Paul's as the start, but the meeting point is the gelato stand inside the Oculus. Go there.
  • Bags over 25 x 17 x 9 inches aren't allowed in the Observatory, and there are no lockers.
  • Under-17s need an adult with them in the Observatory.
